ADS undertook groundwater and local surface water quality monitoring during dewatering of excavations within aquifers <500m away from potable water abstractions. Strict water quality trigger values were set for each water body. Monitoring included telemetric continuous monitoring of key parameters using aquatrolls, weather monitoring, regular confirmatory low flow sampling of groundwater and water sampling of lakes and streams to demonstrate no adverse impacts by construction.

This project delivered a variety of technological solutions to assure stakeholders that below ground risk was being managed effectively on site. The works were completed within a busy construction period. Stakeholders were updated regularly and the construction activities completed without interruption.

ADS was commissioned to support the contractor to deliver the agreed groundwater and local surface water monitoring plan. All planning
requirements were met and agreement with key stakeholders including the Environment Agency, Thames Water and Affinity Water secured.

Developments of steel portal frame warehousing units circa 25000 sq ft. ADS Structural provided the structural and civil design for the superstructure frame, secondary steelwork, masonry wall panels, GF Slabs, foundations, concrete external storage yards and SUDS drainage system. Our in-house design teams were heavily involved in the technical design of the sub and superstructures liaising with the geotechnical engineers throughout the site investigation processes and determining foundation solutions which were generally simple shallow pads, occasionally recommending the implementation of ground improvement via dynamic compaction / lime stabilisation / vibro piling. ADS Civils design team also prepared SUDS assessments and detailed drainage strategies to support the planning applications and such gained valuable experience in dealing with the LLFA, water authorities & drainage bodies.
