The site was located over historically backfilled quarries and adjacent quarries had been used for landfilling. ADS Consult undertook a detailed review of a significant number of historical technical reports to assess potential gas risk from onsite and offsite sources.

Gas monitoring data was compromised by high groundwater levels, additional monitoring was not a practical approach to determining future gas generation risk.

ADS completed a detailed assessment of gas sources, potential pathways and appropriate protection to future houses that satisfied the Local Authority that the site was safe to develop as proposed. The relevant conditions to the Planning Permission were discharged
